This summer has been full of weddings of people I love. Truly. Every one has been old friends or new kindred spirits. It has been a beautiful experience and has made my life so much richer. This Westwood Plateau wedding in Coquitlam was that. A beautiful day, full of people I loved but it was even a touch specialer…this family is so dear to me. You see…it all goes back to the LCS days. And these three Daugherty girls are such a huge part of my history there. They were in my classes, organized food clubs for French 12, have hung out as friends, coached basketball with me and even helped plan my wedding. I love this family and so it made it even that much more wonderful being asked to be a part of Dana’s wedding day…I felt so truly honoured. And it was amazing.
Dana and Mike are this wonderful couple who love great food, urban lifestyles and competition. They are so competitive. For real. Even their first meeting turned into a competition. They’ve even competed against each other to see who is the healthier person. So when planning a wedding one of her goals was to make it the BEST wedding ever. EVER. And it was.
Their day was full of laughter, emotion, family times, amazing food (I LOVE wedding food), a cake to die for and the Blue Meenies as a band for the night. Every detail was thought through. The amazing reception set up Wedding Design Studio…incredible! Pyjamas for the girls, limo bus for the guests, stationary for every moment, the most beautiful speech a groom has given his bride and even Mentos for the church ceremony because church is always better with candy:)
Dana, Mike…what a beautiful day it was!! I love love loved every part. Thank you for entrusting this day with me…so excited to share these images with you!!
Showstopper…that’s what her dress was. So beautiful and by Allure Bridals.
The ever amazing Shelly Baxter was on hair and makeup. Man…her and Jessie are amazing. Everything they do is incredible.
All the bridesmaids wore similar dresses but unique tops to them…beautiful!
Mom and her 3 girls. LOVE this photo. They all look so beautiful.
Now, I’ve known this family for many years…probably 11ish. But I never knew how funny their dad was! No wonder the girls are such characters! For the father’s first look he chose to wear a top hat as a surprise for Dana…pretty funny.
While the girls were getting ready the boys were having their photos done at the Dublin Crossing in Surrey with Rose! Thank you so much to my super second shooter for coming along for the day!!!
The ceremony was at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Surrey…such a cool church and wonderful to photograph in. On a side note, these are two of the best looking moms ever.
What a fun group of friends this wedding party was. They were up for anything and made the photo time such fun!
Flowers were done by a family friend Linda Bolten. Talented friend, eh?
Their Westwood Plateau reception was amazing and the Wedding Design Studio did such a gorgeous job…wow! And I love that Dana and Mike wanted a reveal before all the guests came in!! Their reaction to their venue was perfect. So wonderful to see all the planning come together.
The couple had a bus limo to take guests from the ceremony area to the reception and back. FUN! I wish I was a guest during this time…wouldn’t it be super awesome to hang out with all your friends on a bus? For real. I think it would be awesome.
Another uber talented friend made their wedding cake…Sarah Luong. I know. You want to be friends with them too now, eh?
I love weddings where past brides are there! And there were two of my couples at this one! So great to catch up.
Love you Sheena and Orsy.
This is Mike’s parents cake server from their wedding. Each of their kids have used it at theirs too and now Dana and Mike are on it! I wish I had thought of this when I was little.
The Blue Meenies were the music for the night and were incredible!! They got everyone up and dancing all night long.
