Caitlyn and Timothy. Fell in love in Chemistry class (yep…all those “got chemistry” jokes occurred) and married just recently at Willoughby Christian Reformed Church with their reception at the Langley Golf Centre. Every part of their day was beautiful and sweet and wonderfully them. I loved it all. Not only are they absolutely smitten and sweetly in love but they are also so cute together…for instance…they quote films a lot and smile in such a fun way when they do it. As well…they are just so smart and honestly, I don’t always understand when they are talking to one another. Both are uber science people (which is another language in itself) and both are pursuing it as careers…Timothy as a teacher and Caitlyn as research. And get this…when she applied to the Masters Program at UBC she was turned down…because they wanted her in the PHD program instead. Yep…that smart.
Caitlyn and I go a ways back…back to when she was in high school and I was her homeroom teacher…and French teacher. The stories she remembers are awesome and probably true…just don’t want to admit all of them! Having taught all the kids in her family made this quite a special day for me and it was so wonderful looking through the crowds at her wedding and seeing so many familiar faces.
What other things did I love about this wedding? Well…their theme was Chemistry…and they did it in such a subtle way…loved it! A speech that involved a duck…yep! Delicious ice cream buffet for dessert. Amazing food. A groom who looked so handsome and GLOWED when he saw his bride for the first time.
And a father speech where Ron (Caitlyn’s music playing, smarty of a dad) spoke about how he would pray for his daughter every night during the 3am meal time. He prayed day after day for her safety in life and that she would make wise decisions. His prayers have come true and it was beautiful to get to see this happen and be a part of their lives for this special day.
Caitlyn, Timothy…thank you. Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day. Your engagement session was a blast but your wedding day was so much more amazing…I loved every part of it. I can’t wait to see how your lives grow and to be a part of that. Ron and Martha…you are so wonderful…it has been amazing being a part of your children’s lives and thank you for entrusting this important day to me.
And a final merci to the super awesome Rose! Thanks for coming out for the day and second shooting with me!
So many sentimental things about this day…for instance…Martha, Caitlyn’s adorable mom, hung the dress from a special hook in their kitchen. It was where their jolly jumpers hung when the kids were little and where Caitlyn would push her brothers on it. Love it. The photo below…it’s a cross stitch that her parents received on their wedding day:)
Their first look…Tim is glowing.
Loved her flowers! Bethany did a GREAT job!
Love these three.
Favourite part of this image…look at the groom’s eyes:)
So…one of my favourite things I do at a wedding is get the wedding party to run into a photo…I know…kind of odd but it always provides the funniest images and gives a break to the day. And it makes me laugh:) Well…this is one of my favourites…bridesmaid Rose…you are AWESOME!
The way her mom looks at her dad…wow. Grypma’s…you are beautiful.
Caitlyn gave a chuckle to everyone in the congregation when she pulled her vows out of your dress pocket:) so cute…I told you!
One of my favourite images is ALWAYS the bride and groom walking down the aisle after the ceremony!
So their Chemistry theme…table numbers from the period of elements, name signs from that too. I sat at the Nitrogen table! Little beakers filled with M&M’s as well.
Next few photos are a bunch of people I adore…students and LCS alumni! Go Lightning!
Speeches are one of my favourite parts of a wedding…I LOVE getting to know the couple more!! What I learned this time…Caitlyn never had a pet growing up. So Tim’s brother Paul set to fix that and gifted her a duck! He even brought it to the reception!
Ice cream buffet…kind of like a Menchies at the wedding!
The couple pulled me away during the reception for a few more images outside when the light was gorgeous…love these.
What a proud father, eh? And this darling girl…she is an epic break dancer.
